Eversion
Eversion is a process where information that is internalized within a system is projected onto an external surface. Eversion literally means turned inside out.
The common application is in an everted virtual reality system. Through use of projection technology data can be displayed as an overlay directly on to a real surface.
The emerging eversion of the virtual worlds is a rapidly developing technology. Direct applications include the ability to interpret data in a real world environment by scanning an object and comparing it to a virtual library of data, such as through the use of image search. Data is then exported directly onto a surface through use of a mini-projector. This allows instant feedback based on criteria that the user selects.
Virtual Interfaces
Virtual interfaces have astounding implications using everted virtual reality systems. A person seeking information about a person or an object can immediately draw from vast databases on the internet whatever relevant information is required. Manipulation of data can be done through physical and kinetic movement, by tracking fingertip sensors or even specially covered nail polish.
Sixth Sense
The sixth sense project was recently unveiled at the TED conference on emerging technologies.
This video shows the amazing potential real world applications of an everted system in action. By using mirrors, a smart phone or other data interface, a mini projector and fingertip sensors the first stage of real world applications of eversion are demonstrated.
